This particular collection's subject matter focuses on the art of arranging flowers. The charm is in the informality of the scenes: the scissors, string, vases, and freshly cut stems strewn on the table. It's an appreciation of the "process", the trial and error, the play. It's not always about the finished product or the resolved bouquet.
The Art Of Floristry paintings are highly detailed but freely painted with a fresh and unfussy looseness. Drawing on the Fauvist tradition of unusual color schemes, I wanted to tell a dynamic color story combining bright hues, rich creams, delicate pastels, and stately greys.
